Formed in 1970, Jugnu Bhangra Group stands as one of Europe’s most established and respected bhangra performance groups, with over 50 years of premier experience.
Spanning four generations, Jugnu has captivated audiences worldwide with their vibrant, high-energy performances that celebrate the spirit of Punjab. Their mission is to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of Punjabi folk traditions on a global stage.
The group has performed extensively across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and North America, alongside multiple tours of India. This wealth of experience has earned Jugnu international recognition and built a legacy that firmly establishes them as leading ambassadors of traditional bhangra entertainment.
Jugnu Bhangra was founded in 1970 by the late Dr Surjit Singh Randhawa (our Bhangra master), alongside a close circle of friends and family. From the very beginning, he built Jugnu on a core principle that remains central today — family.
Dr Randhawa’s vision was not only to preserve traditional Bhangra, but to pass it down through generations. Thanks to his dedication, many of the original members’ friends and relatives continue to be part of Jugnu today, carrying forward knowledge and traditions that have been shared over decades.
Under his leadership, Jugnu has performed on some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Commonwealth Games, and the FIFA World Cup 1998. The group has also appeared on national television and collaborated with some of the most renowned Punjabi folk singers worldwide.
Dr Randhawa’s legacy lives on through Jugnu — not just as a performance group, but as a family united by culture, tradition, and a shared passion for Bhangra.
We thank the late Dr Surjit Singh Randhawa (Bhangra Master) for his dedication and service to the group. We will continue to keep his legacy alive.

Being a bhangra dancer with Jugnu means more than just dancing—it’s like being part of a family that has grown and supported each other over the years. Carrying on a 50-year legacy fills me with pride and a strong sense of responsibility.
Bhangra to me is just really fun and full of energy. I love the music and how it makes me want to dance. It makes me feel more confident and I love dancing with my friends.
I feel a connection to Punjab everytime I play dhol, my homeland, my motherland, my Punjab!
It makes me feel a part of something and I love everyone there making every bit of it enjoyable and it also makes me feel closer to my culture!
I’ve been dancing with Jugnu for 10 years, and bhangra is my favourite. It helps me connect to my culture and family, express myself, and feel confident. I also love bonding with friends through it!
Be part of Jugnu—where tradition meets excellence.
